Welcome to Garces Memorial Admissions!
Thank you for your interest in becoming part of a tradition of Excellence in Catholic Education that spans more than 60 years. Founded in 1947 by the Christian Brothers, Garces Memorial is a private, non-profit, fully-accredited, Catholic, college preparatory, co-educational high school. Garces Memorial offers many opportunities for our students to become spiritually connected, academically prepared and socially aware both inside and outside the classroom.
Whether you are considering going to four year university or a junior college, our college preparatory curriculum and block schedule will prepare you. Many of our alumni are attending some of the finest schools in the country and 100% of our 2011 graduates are attending college. We also have built in a period for collaboration for extra work in classes where a student might need help or to get caught up. We give every student the opportunity to succeed.
Outside of the classroom, over 80% of Garces students participate in extra-curricular activities. We offer theater, band, orchestra, choir, mock trial, CLC groups, along with service clubs and student organized clubs. Garces Memorial has one of the most successful athletic programs in the history of the Central Section CIF, ranked fourth all-time with 112 section team championships, as well as dozens of individual titles in swimming, diving, tennis, golf, track and cross-country. We are the only high school in Bakersfield to have a pool on campus and a Water Polo program.
Most importantly, Garces Memorial accomplishes all of this in an atmosphere that teaches students to fulfill the mission of Christ. Along with daily prayer, all-team Masses, and all-school Masses, our students spend hundreds of hours each year in service to their school, local parishes and community for the betterment of their world. Garces students learn to practice respect, integrity, compassion and courage of faith.
Garces Memorial High School has received the highest possible accreditation, six years, from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and Western Catholic Educational Association.
