Guidelines For International (I-20) Students

2011 - 2012 School Year

Garces Memorial High School will fill out an I-20 form (See Principal) after the registration fee is paid ($400.00 – non-refundable). The student will then take the form to the embassy.

Full tuition ($12,000 -- non-refundable) is due by July 1, 2011.

Tuition must be paid for a full year even if the student takes a leave of absence and then returns to school.

All I-20 students must live with a host family.

Host family is responsible for transportation to and from school.

The student must be a full-time student while enrolled at Garces Memorial High School.

There is no ESL program – an outside tutor will be required if the student is not English proficient – to be arranged by the student and host family.

Students who lack English proficiency can receive an NC (no credit) grade for up to 1 semester in each of the following subject areas: English, Math, Religion, Science, and Social Studies. If the student wishes to graduate from Garces Memorial High School, these classes must be made up for credit.

Homework, tests, and overall performance will be graded even in NC classes.

The decision to take an NC will come from a meeting with the teacher and the counselor, with input from the student and their guardian.

Factors to be considered in an NC grade are: current grade, ability to understand an oral lesson given by the teacher (evaluated by the teacher), and English proficiency in reading.

Credits from the student’s home country may go toward graduation requirements.

The student must inform Garces Memorial High School about graduation and post-high school plans.

2011 – 2012 School Year

ANNUAL TUITION:$12,000.00 (non-refundable) paid in full by July 1, 2011. (Or upon acceptance to Garces)
REGISTRATION FEE:  $400.00 (non-refundable) paid before I-20 is issued.
Registration Fee – This fee covers the setting up of computer records, implementing programs, administering and scoring standardized tests, and processing applications. In addition, this fee includes costs for grade reports, student ID cards, admission to specified school events, and graduation fees.  Also included in this fee is a yearly technology fee and a yearbook.  This fee is payable each year at the time of application and is non-refundable.
 

Board of Directors’ Policy Regarding Tuition and Fees

  • Tuition and fees are to be paid in full before the start of the academic year. Late or delinquent payment of tuition can result in fines or dismissal from school. 
  • REFUNDS – All tuition and fees are non-refundable.
  •  A written statement from the parent or legal guardian is required to withdraw a student from school.
